How To Draw On A Mug With Sharpie

I would tell you there'south no such thing equally too many :) But, I don't want to spend a fortune on mugs either, then I love customizing mugs to give as gifts (to myself and others, lol) because they are relatively cheap and e'er very loved and appreciated. For this tutorial, I'k sharing how I fabricated these ambrosial monogram sharpie mugs, just you lot can exercise pretty much annihilation you want as long as you employ the right markers. Read on to learn how to make your own DIY sharpie mugs that are washable.

Washable DIY Sharpie Mugs Tutorial

Materials Needed:

Mugs (I usually purchase mine at The Dollar Shop)
Oil-based Sharpie pigment pens (that link will take you to the verbal pen set I utilize to brand my washable sharpie mugs)
- This is CRUCIAL!!!! If you don't use the right paint pens/markers, your design volition wash right off :(
Large felt stickers OR vinyl letters (do non use regular newspaper stickers–they will be very difficult to remove from your mug)
A working oven :)
Rubbing booze
Blast polish remover and q-tips to easily wipe off any mistakes that you brand

Steps:

ane) Clean your mug with rubbing alcohol to remove any oils from information technology. Then identify a felt sticker or vinyl letter on your mug.

ii) Usingoil-based Sharpie paint pen in the color of your choice, begin making dots around the edge of your sticker. Heavily concentrate your dots around the edge of the sticker. As you work your fashion outward away from the sticker, make your dots more sparse. You can use ane colour or multiple colors. 3) Allow your painted dots to dry completely, then skin your sticker off. If you observe any mistakes or areas where the paint bled under your sticker, just wipe them off with a q-tip that has a bit of smash polish remover on information technology.

4) Place your mugs inside the oven AND THEN heat it to 350 degrees. Do not pre-oestrus your oven before putting the mugs inside. Once the 350 temperature is reached, allow your mugs "bake" for 30 minutes. I recommend setting them upside down direct on an oven grate–if y'all sit them on a cookie sail it may cause your mugs to discolor (unless they are brand new cookie sheets). After they take baked for 30 minutes at 350 degrees, plough off the oven and let the mugs absurd down inside the oven. Once the oven has completely cooled, remove your mugs. You lot may notice that the colour of your paint changed a scrap after they are broiled–this is normal (some colors are affected more than others). THAT'S Information technology! How adorable and fun are these DIY sharpie mugs? Now, I bet you lot are wondering if y'all tin actually wash them. YES, y'all can! I commonly hand-wash mine (I hand wash my shop-bought mugs most of the time likewise–it's only an erstwhile addiction), BUT I have also run my sharpie mugs through the dishwasher when I've been feeling lazy and theoil-based Sharpie pigment pen designs haven't washed off.
